FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: My family is planning to be out of town during the week of tryouts. Can I still tryout?
A: We cannot make exceptions for family vacations or outside conflicts as we simply must evaluate all players during tryout week.
Q: My daughter did not get a chance to tryout for Varsity and plays with Varsity members in the off season. Why didn't she get a chance to play with the Varsity group?
A: Despite the group your daughter is assigned for tryouts, coaches are evaluating for ALL teams. Be a STANDOUT in your tryout grouping - make it obvious to coaches you are in the wrong grouping and belong at a higher level. That means not giving up games, having a positive attitude, and excellent sportsmanship.
Teams are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill level, experience, dedication, work ethic, and attitude
Q: We did not know we needed a sport physical and have one scheduled later in the week of tryouts. Can my daughter still be at tryouts?
A: No. ALL registrations, including physicals and all paperwork needed by the Edina Athletic Office must be completed BEFORE a player can step on to the court. No exceptions.
Q: Can 7th and 8th graders tryout?
A: Edina High School athletics does not field a middle school team. However, if you attend 7th or 8th grade in the Edina Public School District there may be an opportunity for an Exceptional Athlete Waiver. Those athletes must be able to compete at a top 10 spot on Varsity - which means a minimum 3.5+ UTR rating. Reach out directly to Coach Jaime for next steps if you think you might qualify.
