If you want immersive, cinema-grade spatial sound with active noise cancellation for movies, choose Edifier WH950NB; if you need a dedicated high-fidelity lossless music player to drive premium headphones with absolute audio purity, choose AGXOV HiFi MP3.
• Edifier WH950NB: The biggest strength is its hybrid active noise cancellation and 80-hour battery life, making it ideal for travel and long movie sessions; the trade-off is that it relies on external devices for content rather than storing files itself.
• AGXOV HiFi MP3: The standout feature is its ability to play native DSD256 and 24-bit/192kHz lossless formats via a high-end DAC, offering studio-quality sound without compression; however, it lacks active noise cancellation and functions only as a source device, not a complete listening system.
• Who each pick is for: Choose the Edifier WH950NB if you are looking for an all-in-one over-ear solution for commuting or watching films in noisy environments. Choose the AGXOV HiFi MP3 if you are an audiophile who owns a library of high-resolution files and wants a portable player that respects the integrity of those tracks.
The Edifier WH950NB Gen 2 is designed for people who demand immersion without interruption. Its primary draw is the hybrid active noise cancellation system, which offers eight distinct levels of customization ranging from deep -49dB reduction to ambient sound modes. This isn't just about blocking out engine hum; it is about creating a controlled acoustic environment where the details of a film soundtrack become the sole focus. The inclusion of "Cinema-Grade Spatial Sound" directly addresses the needs of someone using these headphones specifically for movies. By activating this mode, the headphones simulate a 3D surround experience, pulling sound from behind and above you to match what happens on screen. This feature transforms a standard stereo pair into something closer to a home theater setup, provided you have the right content.
Battery life is another massive factor here. With an average life of 80 hours when ANC is off, these headphones can last through multiple cross-country flights or weeks of daily commutes on a single charge. Even with the power-hungry noise cancellation engaged, the 15-minute quick charge feature provides 13 hours of playback, which is enough to get you through a long workday or a marathon viewing session. The physical design supports this endurance with memory foam ear cushions wrapped in protein leather and an adjustable steel headband, ensuring comfort during extended wear. The foldable design and included travel case make it a practical companion for anyone who moves frequently.
However, this product is not for everyone. If your goal is to listen to a personal collection of lossless FLAC or DSD files stored locally without relying on a smartphone or computer, this headphone falls short because it has no internal storage or file management capabilities. It is purely a receiver. Additionally, while the Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity ensures a stable connection up to 10 meters, it does not support the direct decoding of high-resolution wired formats that some audiophiles prefer for critical listening. You must buy this if you prioritize the experience of the sound (noise isolation, spatial effects) over the source fidelity of the file itself.

The AGXOV HiFi MP3 Player serves a completely different purpose, targeting the enthusiast who treats music as a technical art form. This device is built around the ES9018K2M DAC, a component known for delivering a signal-to-noise ratio of 127dB and total harmonic distortion plus noise of less than 0.001%. In practical terms, this means the audio coming out of the device is as clean as it gets, free from the digital artifacts that often plague wireless transmission or lower-end players. It supports a vast array of formats, including native DSD256 (11.2MHz), ALAC, and AIFF, allowing users to play their entire high-resolution library exactly as the artist intended. If you are tired of compressed MP3s or streaming services that downgrade quality, this player is the gateway to true hi-fi.
The hardware design reinforces its role as a precision instrument. The chassis is made of high-grade zinc alloy, giving it a substantial, durable feel that suggests longevity. Control is managed through a combination of a 2.8-inch HD touchscreen and a retro-style mechanical knob. The screen offers 240x320 resolution for clear navigation of track lists, while the knob provides tactile, precise volume adjustments—a feature many modern touch-only interfaces lack. It also includes a 3.5mm balanced output, which is crucial for driving high-impedance headphones that require more power and cleaner signals than a standard unbalanced jack can provide. The 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via Micro SD, ensures you can carry a massive library of uncompressed music with you anywhere.
That said, this device has significant limitations if you are looking for a general-purpose entertainment unit. It functions strictly as a transmitter, meaning you cannot connect it to your phone to stream music from Spotify or Apple Music; it plays files stored on the device itself. It also lacks any form of active noise cancellation, so you will hear every background noise around you unless your connected headphones provide their own isolation. The 50-hour battery life is respectable but shorter than the Edifier option. This product is for the person who values sonic purity above all else and is willing to manage a separate device to achieve it.
• Best for movies and cinematic immersion → Edifier WH950NB: The spatial sound processing and active noise cancellation create an environment where dialogue and sound effects pop, making it superior for film consumption.
• Best for high-resolution audio fidelity → AGXOV HiFi MP3: With support for DSD256 and a high-end DAC, this player delivers the most accurate reproduction of lossless files available in a portable format.
• Best for travel and long commutes → Edifier WH950NB: The 80-hour battery life and compact, foldable design with a travel case make it far more convenient for mobile use than a standalone player.
• Best for audiophile libraries → AGXOV HiFi MP3: If you own a collection of FLAC, WAV, or DSD files, this is the only way to play them at full quality without a computer or phone acting as an intermediary.
• Best for comfort and fit → Edifier WH950NB: Over-ear design with memory foam and protein leather cushions offers a sealed, comfortable seal for long periods, whereas the AGXOV requires you to bring your own headphones.
• Best for durability and build → AGXOV HiFi MP3: The zinc alloy body feels rugged and industrial, built to withstand the rigors of being carried in a pocket or bag as a dedicated device.
• Best for battery endurance → Edifier WH950NB: At 80 hours, the battery life significantly outlasts the 50-hour capability of the AGXOV player.
• Best for ease of use → Edifier WH950NB: Simply turn it on and pair it with your phone; the AGXOV requires file management and understanding of audio formats to get the most out of it.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally buy the Edifier WH950NB for my daily routine, especially since I watch a lot of content for movies. The combination of spatial sound and active noise cancellation creates an immediate, engaging experience that a standalone player simply cannot replicate on its own. While the AGXOV HiFi MP3 is a marvel of engineering for pure audio fidelity, it requires a level of effort and accessory ownership that doesn't fit my lifestyle. The Edifier headphones offer a complete package: they isolate you from the world, enhance the visual media you consume, and last for days on a charge. If your priority is an effortless, high-quality listening experience for entertainment, the WH950NB is the clear winner.
Neither product is explicitly rated as IPX7 waterproof based on the provided data sheets. The Edifier WH950NB features wind noise reduction for outdoor use, but neither device is marketed specifically as submersible or sweat-proof for heavy rain or water sports.
Yes, the AGXOV HiFi MP3 supports Bluetooth 5.3 and functions as a transmitter. You can pair it with Bluetooth headphones, speakers, or car stereos that support the A2DP profile to enjoy high-resolution audio wirelessly.
No, the Edifier WH950NB does not have internal storage for music files. It is a wireless receiver that connects to smartphones, computers, or other sources via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm AUX cable to play audio.
For critical listening of high-resolution files, the AGXOV HiFi MP3 is superior due to its ES9018K2M DAC and support for 24-bit/192kHz and DSD256 formats. However, for overall enjoyment of movies and mixed content, the Edifier WH950NB's spatial sound processing provides a more immersive presentation.
