If you want longer battery life and Bluetooth 5.4, choose Edifier ES850NB; if you need a simpler over-ear option with a stated 40-millisecond audio latency, choose Wentronic Y04. For construction work, neither is an open-ear or ear-clip design, so the right choice depends on whether you want the Edifier’s longer listed playtime or the Wentronic’s clearly specified latency and straightforward button controls.
Edifier ES850NB vs Wentronic Y04 at a Glance
• Edifier ES850NB: Its headline strength is 92-hour listed battery life, with a 15-minute charge time also provided. The trade-off is that its listed frequency range does not establish a sound-quality advantage by itself.
• Wentronic Y04: It combines active noise cancellation with a stated 40-millisecond audio latency and button controls. Its main trade-off against Edifier is the shorter listed battery life of up to 48 hours.
• Both are pink, over-ear Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation and a 3.5 mm audio connection.
• Choose Edifier if long intervals between charges and Bluetooth 5.4 matter most; choose Wentronic if its stated latency and push-button controls better suit your listening habits.
The Edifier ES850NB is an over-ear Bluetooth headphone with active noise cancellation. Its most striking practical specification is the listed 92-hour average battery life. Edifier also lists a 15-minute charge time, which makes quick top-ups a relevant consideration for someone who does not want to plan every listening session around charging. Bluetooth 5.4 and a 3.5 mm jack give it wireless and wired connection options.
For construction work, that combination may appeal if you want over-ear headphones for breaks, commuting, or listening in places where you choose to use headphones. The long listed battery life is useful when charging opportunities are inconvenient. But these are not sports earbuds for construction work: they cover the ears, and the supplied specifications do not identify a sweat-resistant or worksite-protection feature. Active noise cancellation can also reduce awareness of surrounding sounds, so consider the environment before using it.

I’d skip the Edifier if you specifically want an ear clip headphone for construction work, an open-ear fit, or stated volume limiting. None of those features appears in its specifications. It has a broad listed frequency range of 20 Hz to 40,000 Hz, but that figure alone does not prove better sound than the Wentronic. The product information also lists touch controls, USB-C and 3.5 mm connections, and a pink finish. Those details may help narrow the choice, but they do not make it a substitute for hearing protection.
The Wentronic Y04 is also an over-ear Bluetooth headphone with active noise cancellation. Its listed battery life is up to 48 hours, and its Bluetooth version is 5.3. It supports a 3.5 mm connection as well as wireless listening. Wentronic specifies a 40-millisecond audio latency, a 40-millimeter dynamic driver, and a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
That makes it a reasonable candidate for someone who wants a conventional over-ear headset for general listening, calls, or media, and prefers push-button controls to touch controls. The product information describes soft earcups, but it does not provide a detailed fit measurement or a specific worksite use rating. For construction work, I would think of it as an option for off-duty listening or suitable settings where wearing over-ear headphones is permitted—not as gear intended to protect hearing or keep you aware of hazards.
The Y04 is a less compelling fit if your priority is stretching time between charges: its listed maximum is 48 hours, compared with the Edifier’s 92-hour average battery life. It is also not a volume limiting open ear earbud for construction work. It is a closed over-ear design with active noise cancellation, and the sheet does not list volume limiting, an ear-clip structure, or an open-ear mode. The stated latency is a concrete point of comparison, but it does not tell the whole story about how a particular phone, computer, or app will perform.
• Longest listed battery life → Edifier ES850NB. Edifier lists 92 hours; Wentronic lists up to 48 hours. These figures give the Edifier a clear advantage on the specification sheet, though the descriptions use different wording.
• Short charging window → Edifier ES850NB. Its listed charge time is 15 minutes. The Wentronic sheet does not provide a charge-time figure, so there is no equivalent comparison.
• Bluetooth version → Edifier ES850NB. It uses Bluetooth 5.4, while the Wentronic uses Bluetooth 5.3. That is a factual difference, not proof that you will notice a meaningful improvement in every setup.
• Stated audio latency → Wentronic Y04. Wentronic lists 40 milliseconds. The Edifier sheet does not state a latency figure, so buyers who need a published number for this feature have one for the Y04 and none for the ES850NB.
• Touch controls → Edifier ES850NB. The Edifier uses touch controls. The Wentronic uses push-button controls, which may suit someone who prefers a physical button rather than a touch surface.
• Physical-button operation → Wentronic Y04. Its control method is listed as push button. That gives the buyer a clear distinction if touch controls are not appealing.
• Wired listening → Either, with a connection difference. Both list a 3.5 mm jack. Edifier also lists USB-C as a headphone jack connection, while the Wentronic lists 3.5 mm only.
• Construction-site awareness or hearing protection → Neither is established by the listed features. Both use over-ear designs with active noise cancellation, and neither sheet specifies volume limiting, open-ear listening, or hearing-protection certification. If you need protective equipment or constant awareness, choose equipment made and rated for that purpose rather than assuming headphones provide it.
I would choose the Edifier ES850NB for construction work-related listening outside active tasks, such as commuting or taking a break, because its listed 92-hour battery life and 15-minute charge time give it the stronger battery story. That is my preference based on the specifications, not a claim that it is suitable hearing protection.
If your priority is the Wentronic’s stated 40-millisecond latency or physical buttons, the Y04 may fit better. But for long stretches between charges, I’d buy the Edifier—and I would keep either model off when the job requires hearing protection or awareness of nearby activity.
They are over-ear Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation, not products identified as construction hearing protection. The supplied information does not specify worksite certification, volume limiting, or an open-ear mode. Follow workplace safety requirements and use equipment rated for the protection you need.
Edifier lists 92 hours of average battery life and a 15-minute charge time. Wentronic lists up to 48 hours of playback, without a charge-time figure. The battery descriptions are not worded identically, but the Edifier has the longer listed duration.
Wentronic lists 40 milliseconds of audio latency. The Edifier specifications do not give a latency figure, so the available information does not support a direct numerical comparison. Actual performance may also depend on the connected device and how you use it.
If you need an ear-clip or open-ear design, neither of these over-ear models matches that form. Neither product sheet lists volume limiting. Check the requirements of your worksite and look for equipment specifically suited to its safety needs; don’t infer hearing protection from active noise cancellation or headphone shape.
