Mental health is quite underfunded in the United States. However, under my Governorship, this will not by the case in the Chesapeake Commonwealth. I want to increase funding to make sure EVERY citizen has access to proper mental health facilities and therapists who will help them in their times of need.
Transgender individuals in the United States experience more mental health issues than the average American (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-truth-about-exercise-addiction/201612/why-transgender-people-experience-more-mental-health). One of my goals in enhancing mental health in the Commonwealth would be to make sure we have therapists who are experts in treating those who identify as transgender to make sure their needs are met. It is not acceptable in this day and age we cannot help our transgender citizens. Under my Governorship, we WILL.
