Improv At the olde club, PA. 2023
photoshoot. 2024.
Having each played and performed across a wide variety of genres from an early age, Edan Raen and Josiah Luftig were an instant creative match when they met while studying at Sarah Lawrence College in 2022. After three years of prolific musical collaboration, dozens of public performances, and several in-progress recording projects, Edan and Josiah are off on their first duo tour of the northeast. Some songs written individually, some collaboratively, some covered, and of course--as has been their distinctive and joyful practice to cultivate over three years of playing together--the frequent lyrical and melodic improvisation that marks their work as live performers.
Edan and Josiah look forward to singing original folk, country, and jazz songs accompanyied by guitars, mandolins, banjo, saxophone, and perhaps much more. Their chemistry as longtime collaborators and dear friends makes their performances sweet but profound, while their commitment to accessible kinds of live experimentation make them enthralling to first time listeners and seasoned fans alike. Some performances feature intimate, storyteller-style presentation of their original work. Others are supported by a larger band, allowing the duo to present the full textural complexity of their material.
