Introduction

My name is Molly Finley. I teach 7th Grade Math, Algebra I with Probability and Geometry with Data Analysis. I also coach softball and volleyball. I have a passion for mathematics. Most students do not like math or think they are not good math students. By giving students the right foundation, I want to show them that they can succeed in mathematics. I have always been very passionate about sports as well. In high school I played volleyball, basketball, softball, and ran track.

I recently finished my masters degree in Mathematics Education from the University of West Alabama. I enjoyed learning new strategies and ideas to use in my classroom. I am especially enjoy implementing all of the new technology resources in my mathematics classroom.

When I am not in my classroom, I am spending time with my husband, Chase, and my son, Matthew. We love sports and the outdoors! When we play together it is usually football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer; you name it, we are playing it. We have two dogs, Claire Bear and Lucy, who love long walks.

By being a parent and a teacher, I have learned the importance of goal setting. I think it is necessary to set goals and always be working towards an accomplishment in ones life. They may be big or small, but if one is continually striving to accomplish a task in their life, they are continually growing in that area. This growth will transform one into a better version of ones self. I have goals I try to reach on a daily basis and long-term goals. I also emphasize goal setting with my son, and he definitely has some big ones he hopes to reach one day!

Teaching Philosophy

Since I am a third generation teacher, teaching is in my blood. I have four great teacher role models in my family, my parents and grandparents. They were all successful and influential educators. Watching them over the years showed me the influence teachers have over students. That is why I continue to strive everyday to show students the importance of education. Teachers shape the world by impacting students' lives. I want to show students the importance of being successful in life, not just by making money but by doing what you love and by being a good citizen in the community.
