"The eCSR workshop was a motivating experience where I was able to connect with women in many stages of their computer science careers. It was incredibly informative to learn about different types of computer science research being conducted as well as the challenges women had overcome to attain their levels of success."
"The eCSR workshops that were organized was an interesting exposure to research in CS and a great way to network with women in the field of technology! There was a diverse panel of women, ranging from PhD students to professors, which showed the various opportunities and experiences that can result from this field. I loved the collaborative portion of the event as well! It helped build confidence in problem-solving abilities and it was a great chance to work with and learn from other women who are motivated and driven."
"I attended the workshops twice, both fall and spring, and I feel I learned a lot. First, I really enjoyed working with my team. I love working with equally passionate people! Secondly, when I was helping the freshman and the sophomores (who were yet to take CS 251) solve the problems without giving away the answer, it was such a fun experience. And it felt amazing when they actually solved the problem! Thirdly, I have also mentioned this experience in my internship interviews , and in the Summer of 2020 I landed the internship as a software engineer with Canon Medican Research Inc. USA with their molecular imaging department.
Last but not least, the awesome food at the workshops!"
"I'm gonna be honest, the chocolate at this event was a deciding factor for me to attend, and don't worry even though it's virtual this year, you will still get to try some! But, in all honestly, this event helped me meet some of my best friends while practicing my problem solving skills! Additionally learning about the research that was happening at UIC and meeting students who had participated in research in the past, has led me to seriously consider grad school in the future."
