I got myself an i5 3570 and an ecs h61h2-m2 motherboard. i had initial problems with it because it wouldn't boot no matter what i do.. then i was told i needed to update the bios first but my problem is that i don't know where i can borrow a 2nd gen cpu to update the bios with.. so should i try to go through the trouble of trying to update the bios or just refund it back to the owner?

well i kinda said it wrong.. its not that they're expensive but its hard to find a 2nd gen cpu for cheaps.. but i still managed to get my hands on an old pentium g630 to update the bios with for around $10

Not gonna loose time now checking the H110, seems your up to date with it, but you maybe out of luck with (as you already know), no PCIe bus connection only to SATA from PCH.

Latest MEDION H110H4-EM v1 W0X.105 bios has the AMI NVME module in it, no mod need to it.

You made the RUFUS as UEFI GPT correct? If so its prepared for UEFI boot

The bios has a locked string (Not visible) called CSM parameters, in capture already posted, with the fowling options:

LAUNCH CSM - Failsafe: AUTO and Optimal: Always

So try loading the FAILSAFE general settings to bios and the USB must show in boot menu, because the filter is set by default to load UEFI first then Legacy.
