GoFundMe is an excellent platform for lots of reasons, and one of them is as a Tip Jar. We have some great ideas on how we will grow. Pop on over, and this is not a hail mary and it is also not high pressure. Just if you like what we do, we would not say no to a tip.
Thank you!
From GoFundMe
We are a scrappy group. We have not taken funding, and we are not beholden to any interests that we don't want. It is liberating, and we are helping real people.
The process is as follow. You submit via a form a description of the alleged cyber/ecrime incident you would like investigated. One of our analysts will look, and we can pretty quickly determine if it is in our scope of capabilities, or advice on what next steps you can take. We would like to think we are superman every time, but some cases are just better handled by other people or professions.
After the initial email exchange we can set up a quick phone call or zoom meeting. During that time we can form a greater understanding of the entire problem. You will be asked to collect data--IP addresses, Domain names, screen shots, log files, and we will set up a collection area that you can upload them to.
Then the process really begins. An analyst will start pouring through the evidence, and with dozens and dozens of tools, try to gather context and additional forensics. Depending on scope, we will also determine if the case is just too long, and we will produce the forensics at this time.
Finally, the deliverable is a set of documents containing details on what to do next. Depending on what is found, it will include links to law enforcement, FBI, SEC, FTC, your state Attorney General, and other relevant. We will offer to fill some of the forms out or give you a standard explanation you can use. The reason for this is that in some cases the injured party must submit the incident themselves, under penalty of perjury.
The initial offering is Free. So low cost on your side, and what we get is more practice on current frauds and scams.
The fundraising amount will go to three laptops, two subscription counter-intel services, covering times if a court requires a fee to access documents, and starting off this project on the right footing.
