Participation course is limited to 20, and are charged at $150 for half-day courses and $900 for the three day introductory course. Students can participate at half of those rates.

  • Saturday Dec 7, 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Sunday Dec 8, 8 AM - Tuesday Dec 10, 5 PM
    • 3 days: Introductory EwE course. Open to everyone. Coordinator: David Chagaris
      • The schedule for the course is,
        1. Ecopath: Introduction, model parameterization, construction, balancing and interpretation
        2. Ecosim: the foraging arena, time series fitting
        3. Ecosim: incorporating environmental impacts (temp, salinity, pH, ...), mediation, and uncertainty
      • Location: KRC 3120 (3rd floor).
  • Sunday Dec 8, 8 - 12 AM
    • Boot Camp: Bring Your Own Model to a session where you can discuss your model with experienced ecosystem modelers and get feedback and suggestions. Open to everyone. There will be a second Boot Camp on Dec 9, and you are encouraged to participate in both. This will give you time in between to work on suggested improvements. Coordinator: Kristy Lewis

  • Monday, Dec 9, 8 - 12 AM
    • Boot Camp: Bring Your Own Model to a session where you can discuss your model with experienced ecosystem modelers and get feedback and suggestions. This second Boot Camp is open to all, including participants from the Dec 8 Boot Camp. Coordinator: Kristy Lewis
        • Location: COT Conference Room
    • Temporal-Spatial Framework: This course gives a hands-on to the use of the EwE temporal-spatial framework, which is distributed with the professional and the personal version of EwE. Participants will get a time-restricted working version of EwE6.6 with the temporal-spatial framework, which will be setup with a demonstration model with temporal-spatial data. This course will be repeated on the afternoon of Dec 9. Coordinator: Jeroen Steenbeek

  • Monday, Dec 9, 1 - 5 PM
    • Ecotracer: tracking persistent pollutants (including isotopes, plastic, ...) through the food web. Learn about the background and setup of the module, will include hands-on run of demo. Coordinator: Villy Christensen
        • Location: FWC 3001 (3rd floor)

    • Incorporation of uncertainty in Ecopath, Ecosim and Ecospace. Includes introduction to and hands-on with the Ecosampler, Ecoindices and core MSE routines. Coordinator: Villy Christensen

  • Tuesday, Dec 10, 1 - 5 PM
    • Management Strategy Evaluation. Introduction to the use of the CEFAS MSE plugin. Advanced course.

  • Wednesday, Dec 11, 8 - 12 AM
    • Socio-economic analysis based on the EwE value chain analysis. Introduction, theoretical background, and hands-on demonstration of how to build a value chain, which combined with an ecosystem model can be used to follow fish from sea to table, and evaluate impact of management and ecological changes. Coordinator: Villy Christensen.
