Peer Assisted Learning Schemes (PALSs) are commonplace at a number of universities in many subjects. Offered to first-year students, our goal is to ease your transition to university-style learning, improving your grades, building a community within the year, and offering opportunities to immerse yourself in the subject beyond your lectures.
At EconPALS, our main activity has always been our weekly sessions: curriculum-focused seminars led by experienced higher-year students. We offer several weekly sessions covering material from the previous week's lectures and tutorials. Special sessions also cover essay-writing skills, exam preparation, and more.
Results: Average grades for EconPALS attendees are 10% higher than non-attendees in Economics 1 exams.
Recognition: Winner of the 2017 EUSA Impact Awards "Best PAL Scheme" with multiple leaders being nominated for "Outstanding Student Leader".
Reaction: 90% of members found us excellent or fantastic, while 100% said EconPALS provided great content and insight for their course.
Resources: We collaborate closely with the School of Economics, EUSA, and are a part of the Economics Society.
