TANF: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, provides income for families living in poverty.
Medicaid: pays health expenses for low income and/or disabled people
Child's Health Insurance Program: pays health expenses for children
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program: provides food stamps
Supplemental Security Program: provides cash to help the aged, blind, and disabled to buy food, clothing, and shelter
Earned Income Tax Credit: a tax credit for families with at least one child who live under a revenue threshold of about $55,000.
Housing Assistance: provides units of public housing. The Housing Choice Voucher Program gives rent certificates for approved units. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides energy assistance and help low income households to pay for their utility bills.
