The EcoMito club was originally thought by Karine Salin and Loïc Teulier, just after the COVID lockdown. Conferences had just started to reappear, but we thought that something was missing: social events of conferences. Sure, the backbone of conferences such as science talks, were there, but small talks and opportunities to chat casually just disappeared.
Thanks to our respective networks, we decided to organize a monthly journal club to gather the addicts of mitochondria and ecology, and give the opportunity for ECR to present their recently published work, online, in a friendly mood, in front of a panel of international senior researchers. Nicolas Pichaud and Lucie Gerber accepted to help us to organize it. For 2 years, the four of us led this community, and in 2023, Enrique Rodríguez, Jules Devaux and Elisa Thoral took over.
Last August, Elisa gave up her seat for Amanda Wiesenthal and Mélanie Aminot who have since joined the team. We are really proud of our small group of ecomitochondriaques. We have a total of 108 subscribers, and have recordings of 18 journal clubs online on our YouTube channel. We are growing and we invite all of you to share our community, to your colleagues who you think would fit well within our community, especially young scientists.
Don't hesitate to contact us to join our club.
