Want people to stop using plastic shopping bags? Ban them. Want people to stop speeding on the highway? Give them tickets. Want more people to drive eco-friendly cars? Offer them express-lane passes. Want people to buy solar panels? Give them tax breaks.

If there is one important lesson to learn, it's that change is very difficult without government action. A lot of people don't directly feel the effects that we're having on the environment (at least not yet). When there is a punishment or reward involved, people change.

Same with school! Which is going to have a greater impact on student HW?

  • Please do your HW... you don't have to, but I really want you to! You'll benefit from it! :) :) :)

  • Do you homework or you get a zero :) Or, do your homework and you get a GOLD STAR! Woopieee!!!

OF COURSE your individual actions are extremely important! BUT, real change happens through legislation.
