Departmental Trip to Jim Corbett National Park

28.09.2018 to 1.10.2018

The Department of Economics organized a 3 Nights / 3 Days trip from 28th September, 2018 to 1st October, 2018 to Jim Corbett, Ramnagar, Uttarakhand for the 2nd and 3rd Year students of B.A. (H) Economics. Forty two students went for the trip along with 3 teachers, namely Mr. Jai Ram Meena (Teacher-in-Charge, Dept. of Economics), Ms. Kamlesh Kumari and Mr. Sohanlal Gosai and Hiteshi Mahajan (President: Ecospire). The trip coordinators were Kashish Kumar (3rd Year), Gurmehar Singh Sethi (2nd Year) and Bhavya Mathur (2nd Year).

After a month of dedicated effort by the teachers of the department and the trip coordinators, a dream finally materialized with the support of the college authorities. Accompanied by the teachers, the students departed for Jim Corbett on the night of 28th September. The 7-hour overnight travel by bus was enjoyed by everyone a lot, and no one slept throughout the night as everyone was engaged in having fun with their friends. We arrived at *Infinity Resort* (a 4-Star Hotel) in the morning at 7 am. The sheer excitement and joy made no one realize that how quickly the next two days passed.

Multiple visits to the swimming pool and the Kosi River, which was just adjacent to the resort, were relished by the entire group. The teachers accompanied the students everywhere and all of them had a great time together. Situated on the banks of the Kosi River, the *Garjiya Devi Temple* was a delight for everyone on the first day of the trip. The temple is located at a high altitude over a large rock in the Kosi River.

*30.September. 2018*

On the second day, everyone departed for the much-awaited *Jungle Safari to Corbett National Park* at 6 am. Enjoying the cool breeze in open jeeps, the students got the chance to view diverse animals and birds ranging from the Wild Boar and Leopard to the Spotted Deer and Wild Lizard. The food at the restaurant in the resort was highly appreciated by everyone, and a balcony which allowed everyone to relish the natural beauty of the Kosi River and the neighbouring hilly regions was an added advantage of having the meals there. The students also had a great time dancing with their friends to light music at the resort on the second day.

With a heavy heart, we departed from the resort on 1st October in the morning. The bus ride was once again a joyful experience as everyone knew that this was the last phase of the trip, hence, they wanted to have the maximum fun with their mates. On our way back, we took a stop at Bhajan Dhaba for lunch, and had a merry time chatting with each other as well. As we neared Delhi, we were welcomed by the usual heavy traffic; but the students who were busy enjoying themselves paid no heed to this! The trip ended with the arrival at the college and everyone left for their homes thinking about some good memories from the trip.

The teachers had a great time as well, and were highly cooperative with the students throughout the trip which allowed them to enjoy to the fullest. The trip was definitely one to cherish!
