The following list of resources provide guidance and helpful tips on how to teach students the Set and Forget method of hydroponics to grow lettuce. Seminole County Master Gardeners have implemented a program in the public school system using these guidelines. Over 1400 elementary school students have been exposed to the methodology of hydroponics through this program in the past two years.

The hydroponics in a jug project provides a way to introduce a variety of STEM concepts. Additionally, the A, in STEAM, or the art component can also be targeted with the hydroponics in a jug project, if students are given the opportunity to decorate their jug with materials that would render the container opaque. In my experimentation, I have used decoupage, cyano-type photography techniques, batiking, and water color painting. The possibilities for creative expression seem endless.
