Echo Sound Effect Download __HOT_

So I am trying to manipulate a sound file in java by breaking it up into samples and storing those samples in an array. I then loop through the array changing each sample. I realize that there is already an echo filter in java but I need to design my own by having the sound repeated at various intervals throughout the sound clip with diminishing volume. I currently have a method that controls the volume but am stumped when it comes to getting the sound to repeat starting at a particular delay over the current sound file. This is what I have so far:

What I believe I need to do is change the method from void to Sound and return the the delayed sound file. Possibly returning something like value + value[i+delay]*(some fraction to decrease the sound)

Anyway this is what I have so far I just can't seem to get the code to work properly and I know I'm close but I need the method to output an echo effect on a sound file. Here is what I have at the current point:

Let me know what you guys think all this seems to do is shift the amplitude for some reason...The problem with posting an SSCCE is that this is using some classes that are not regularly in java I believe and therefor I was just looking for someone to help with the logic. I'm trying to loop through the samples of a sound file then set the value at the delay point to be the beginning of the sound but fainter in volume. IDK if I'm explaining this right but I was hoping this would be a simple fix.

This is my first tim using Audacity and when I tried recording and it sounds fine then for some reason after 3 seconds roughly it sounds like a wa wa pedal or a echo sound ,something like that is on the rest of the recording for some reason when we do not want that sound, I trie looking for a selection to correct this problem and all my options are grey and I cannot click on them. Please help we want to record our 9 songs! Thanks!!!

I could not find the wa wa button it kinda sounds like a echo. What I am doing is I open up the program audacity then I just hit the record button and I hear this echo/wa wa sound IN the rcording ,This is all I am doing. I am using Windows Vista. Please Help. Try, instead of echoing one single sound track, create a second copy and apply extreme echo to that. Use the envelope tools (two white arrows and bent blue line) to fade back and forth between the clean and echo tracks. That part of the track sounds like it could be half and half.

Thank you so much guys for the input. I will try an extreme echo approach suggested by koz and combine it with time stretch suggested by Trebor. I will probably get started later tonight or tomorrow. Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to apply an "echo" effect to a clip in Premiere Elements 10. I am trying to make the audio of a clip sound like it is echoing. I have tried adding audio effects to clips by dragging it onto the screen or clicking "apply" but nothing happens. However, the audio effects do seem to work on narration. I read a forum similar to this one but I didn't really understand all the terms as I am a beginner.

If you are not quite getting what you want, a technique that I use with DD 5.1 SS, is to Duplicate the Audio Clip, placing that onto another Audio Track, apply Reverb and Delay to it, attenuate, adjust the Volume of the Duplicate Clip down, and if necessary, for the "echo," then turn Snap OFF, and nudge that Duplicate Clip just a bit to displace it a bit.

Now if I press the "monitor"button that then turn orange, I can hear the effect but like if I had a double sound, it is very muddy, cloudy, echo-ish, inaudible, even if I change the amp set up, it is with every effects.
