Professor Tarun Kanti Bhattacharyya currently holds the esteemed position of Institute Chair Professor of IIT Kharagpur. In addition to this, he serves as a professor and Head of the E&ECE Department and Advanced Technology Development Centre. With over 35 years of experience in academia and industry, he has published more than 270 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and 110 conferences, along with approximately 10 granted and filed patents. His key area of focus is on developing sustainable technologies and transferring technology in the field of MEMS and Microsystems, RF and Analog VLSI, Nanoelectronics, Thin films, Nano-scale Biosystems Engineering, Nano-Bio Sensors, and nanocomposite energy storage and harvesting systems. He leads four groups under the multidisciplinary aegis. The nano-bio group focuses on FET-based nano biosensors, chemical sensing, disease detection at an early level, drug delivery devices, carbon mems work, and nanocomposites-based super capacitive energy storage analysis. Another group concentrates on developing MEMS-based sensors and actuators for aerospace applications. The VLSI group operates in a world-class laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities and an advanced VLSI lab, including a state-of-the-art VLSI test laboratory developed in collaboration with Keysight Technologies. Professor Tarun Kanti Bhattacharyya has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the IBM Faculty Award 2012, DST, Lockheed Martin, Indo-US S&T forum for Design of Microfluidic system for controlled drug delivery, Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Awards - 2014, INAE Innovative Students Project award at Doctoral Level 2013, and Institute of Smart Structures, ISSS PG Award 2013. He is also a member of INDO-US Centre for Advanced and Futuristic Manufacturing, the Indo-Japan team on Advanced Micro Nano and Nano Manufacturing Science sponsored by JSPS and DST, and Indo-US Frontiers of Engineers (Indo-US FoE), along with PRSG, TPC member of many reputed institutes. Professor Bhattacharyya has authored and published approximately 11 book chapters on MEMS, drug delivery, nanoelectronics, sensor systems, and nanoscale energy storage platforms. He has supervised the dissertations of around 25 Ph.D., 33 MS, and 63 MTech students. Furthermore, Professor Bhattacharyya has collaborated with distinguished professors from various prestigious universities worldwide, such as the University of Washington, Seattle; the University of California, and Irvine; the University of Trento, Italy; the University of Tokyo; and the University of Twente, The Netherlands in the field of Bio-MEMS, Electrical engineering, Micro/Nanofabrication and as Principal Investigator and Co-PI of many prestigious funding projects.
