The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is pleased to announce the Ninth Annual Graduate Students Research Conference (GSRC 2025). The GSRC is an opportunity to (a) showcase our graduate-level research work, (b) enhance our students’ technical communication skills, and (c) exhibit the state-of-the-art research activities performed by ECE research groups.
The GSRC event includes the annual GSRC Poster Competition, which aims to showcase the research work of graduate students. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each program (Ph.D., MASc, and MEng) will receive $300, $200, and $100, respectively as well as an award certificate.
All posters will be judged by ECE faculty members. The judgment will be based on:
· Novelty of research.
· Clarity of presentation.
· Layout and organization.
Refreshments and lunch are provided for GSRC 2025 participants.
2. Poster Prizes
Each poster will be assessed and judged by ECE faculty members according to the following criteria: identification of the problem, discussion of results, literature review and bibliography, quality of illustrations, originality, and overall visual presentation.
Judges are assigned presentations according to their field of interest. Each judge evaluates their assigned posters. All posters are judged equally regardless of categories. Judges' scores are compiled to get the overall score.
Based on the collected scores from the judges, the top three winning poster presentations for Ph.D., three winning poster presentations for M.A.Sc., and three winning poster presentations for M.Eng. will be selected. Each winner receives a certificate with an inscription stating the prize name, the presenting author's name, and the presentation's title.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners in each program (Ph.D., M.A.Sc., and M.Eng.) will receive 300CAD, 200CAD, and 100CAD, respectively.
3. Poster Presentation
Participants in GSRC prepare their research essential information according to the posted poster guidelines. Please check the Helpdesk capstone project website for the detailed plotter printing.
Participants in GSRC must submit a copy of their poster (in pdf file) and extended abstract to the ECE-GSRC coordinators (ece.gsrc@gmail.com or ece-gsrc@encs.concordia.ca) by Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
You must pick up your printed poster from H0964-00 by Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Plotting Instructions:
Check this link for info regarding the printing arrangement (ECE department will pay the printing cost).
Please fill out the "Plotting Reservation Request form".
-- On the reservation form please use the course number "ECE-GTSM" and the group ID "Conference".
Mounting board size: max 48” x 72”
Upon on receiving "Acceptance e-mail", arrange the printing of the poster well in advance and have it ready by Monday, March 24, 2025.
For printing, the poster maybe either:
(a) single sheet max 40 x 60 inches
(b) multiple sheets(max 4) 24 x 36 inches each
Instructions provided by AITS:
Make sure that the files are in the EXACT RATIO & SIZE as required, and that the files are in PDF format and to arrive on time at Hall building H-964.
Please note that they will have 30 minutes to complete their task. Ensure to optimize printings as much as you can, as the cost of plotting is high. No posters will dark full-color backgrounds will be accepted by AITS.]
IMPORTANT:
Winners of previous GSRC competitions will only be eligible for winning if they participate with a new poster. Participation with the same poster is allowed; however, it will not qualify for the winner positions.
Submission Process (submission due: February 27, 2025)
Submit a brief abstract (pdf format) with the registration form.
Abstracts in English should be limited to one page (500 words).
Abstracts must include a title, authors' names, and affiliations.
Abstracts should not include any equations, tables, sketches, or figures.
