Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) is the main international gateway to Armenia, located about 12 km west of the city center.
Upon arrival, you will go through passport control and customs. The airport is small and efficient, and signage is available in English.
Many nationalities are eligible for an e‑visa online or visa on arrival.
Confirm if you need a visa via the Armenian MFA 👉 https://www.mfa.am/en/visa/
Organizers can provide invitation letters upon request—please notify us in advance.
Local SIM cards are affordable and widely available, including at Zvartnots Airport. Look for counters of major providers like:
Viva-MTS
Ucom
Beeline
At the airport, SIM card desks are usually located near the arrivals area. Staff can help activate your SIM and set up your phone on the spot.
What you’ll need:
An unlocked phone
Your passport (required for registration)
Typical prepaid plans cost 2,000–5,000 AMD (~5–12 USD) and include calls, texts, and several GB of data—more than enough for maps, messages, and rideshare apps.
You can also purchase SIMs at kiosks, phone shops, and metro stations around the city.
Taxi (🚕): The most convenient and reliable option. Use Yandex Go or GG Taxi, the two major ride-hailing apps in Armenia. A ride to the city center typically takes 20–30 minutes and costs around 4,000–6,000 AMD (~10–15 USD).
Official Airport Taxis: Available at the taxi counter just outside the arrivals hall. These are metered and safe.
⚠️ Avoid unofficial taxis or drivers who approach you inside the terminal offering rides. They often charge inflated prices and may not be licensed.
Public Transport: Bus Line 108 runs from the airport to the city center. While affordable, it’s less convenient if you’re carrying luggage or unfamiliar with the area.

Carry local currency (AMD) for taxis, metro tokens, and small purchases. Card payments are common, but not universal.
Download and set up Yandex Go or GG Taxi apps in advance for easy transportation.
The Yerevan Metro (🚇) is clean, efficient, and easy to use—tokens can be purchased at each station.
Yerevan is generally a safe city, including at night, and locals are friendly and helpful. However, use common sense: if a situation or place feels suspicious, don’t proceed—trust your instincts.
Tap water is safe to drink, and you’ll find public water fountains (“pulpulaks”) throughout the city.
