Healthy Hunger Hot Lunch
Our BWPFA (Barrie Wilson Parent Fundraising Association) facilitates the Hot Lunch program through Healthy Hunger to help supplement our activities and provide extra financial support, ensuring equitable access to activities and equipment for all students. Our first Hot Lunch event will be September 13, 2023.
Our best effort has been made to choose a variety of options, including vegetarian and gluten free. Should you have any feedback or suggestions, please email ebwscouncil@gmail.com.
New for 2023/2024: Hot Lunch Absentee Policy
Our Hot Lunch program is run by volunteers from your Parent Fundraising Association at Barrie Wilson. Last year, absenteeism on days when hot lunch occurred created a significant amount of stress for our amazing office staff, and as a result this year we will unfortunately need to introduce an absentee policy to reduce this strain.
This year, should your child be absent, our Hot Lunch volunteers will use this procedure:
You will receive a call and an email (should you not answer the call) by one of our volunteers to let you know an ordered lunch is waiting for you at the school.
At this time you may choose to:
donate it to a student on hot lunch day, or
you will have until the end of the day to pick up your child's hot lunch from the office.
Should the lunch not be picked up by the end of the school day, it will be donated to another student the following day for lunch. To follow appropriate food safety protocols, the school can not keep ordered hot lunches for longer than this allotted timeline.
Should you know your student will be absent on a hot lunch day that you have ordered a lunch for, contact ebwscouncil@gmail.com to advise and make arrangements.
