RESIDENT TEACHING

Courses taught as a Lecturer in English Studies attached to the Department of Languages and Communication Studies, Faculty of Communication and Business Studies, Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka since 2016.

Classical Drama (LANG 4253) – Honours Specialization: Designed and delivered advanced seminars for final-year specialization students on Greek, Roman, and Elizabethan dramatic traditions, examining tragic and comic conventions, dramatic theory, and performance mechanics.

Commonwealth Literature (LANG 3163): Facilitated post-colonial analyses of Anglophone texts across South Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Caribbean, focusing on themes of empire, resistance, migration, and decolonization.

Sri Lankan Literature (LANG 2123): Led critical inquiries into Sri Lankan literature in English and translated local works, examining key themes of post-colonial identity, cultural hybridity, nationhood, and historical conflict.

Creative Writing (LANG 2153): Conducted interactive writing workshops in poetry and short fiction, mentoring students through narrative development, voice, imagery, draft iteration, and constructive peer evaluation.

Introduction to Western Culture (LANG 2143): Directed interdisciplinary lectures tracing the historical, philosophical, and artistic trajectories of Western thought from classical antiquity to modernism, assessing their broader cultural and literary impacts.

Introductory Phonetics (LANG 2073): Taught articulatory phonetics and acoustic properties of speech, training students in International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) transcription, stress, intonation patterns, and English suprasegmentals.

Introduction to Literature (LANG 1053): Guided foundational studies across major literary genres—poetry, prose fiction, and drama—developing students' analytical capacities in close reading, critical interpretation, and literary terminology.

Introduction to Language and Linguistics (LING 1013): Delivered core lectures on theoretical and descriptive linguistics, introducing students to phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics, along with foundational theories of language acquisition and structure.

Introduction to Folk Media (COMM 3143): Delivered course content on traditional, indigenous, and oral communication forms (including folk theatre, music, storytelling, and ritual arts), evaluating their socio-cultural relevance, preservation, and strategic integration into community development and health communication.

Mass Communication and Society (COMM 2033): Lectured on the dynamic interplay between media institutions, culture, and social structures, examining key mass communication theories, media ethics, audience reception, and the role of journalism and digital platforms in shaping public opinion
