Dr. Hsing Kenneth Cheng is the University of Florida Distinguished Professor, John B. Higdon Eminent Scholar and Department Chair of Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, Warrington College of Business of the University of Florida. Dr. Cheng received his Ph.D. in Computers and Information Systems from Simon Business School, University of Rochester in 1992. Dr. Cheng’s research interests focus on interdisciplinary information systems research on big data and business analytics, and economic and policy issues of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Internet commerce. Professor Cheng is a renowned Information Systems (IS) scholar with his works also extending to the intersection of other business disciplines. He has been consistently ranked as one of the most productive researchers among the world’s top 100 researchers in information systems by publications in top three IS journals over the years. Dr. Cheng has been recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of INFORMS Information Systems Society in 2024 and an Association for Information Systems Fellow in 2025, prestigious awards considered the highest honors in the field of IS that recognize achievement in making significant impact on IS research, intellectual leadership to the IS community, and intellectual stewardship of the field.
Dr. Cheng has co-edited several special issues in various information systems journals and served as an Associate Editor of Decision Sciences (2011-2022) and Information Systems Research (2011-2014), and a Senior Editor of Journal of the Association for Information Systems (2015-2023). He is currently a Senior Editor of Decision Support Systems, Information Systems and e-Business Management, and Information Systems Research. He has served on the program committee of many information systems conferences and workshops, and was a program co-chair for the Workshop on E-Business (2003, 2012), and Taiwan Summer Workshop on Information Management (2013, 2018).
