1. Overview & Commitment to Privacy
At Chill & Code, we believe user privacy is fundamental. Easy Bookmark Manager is built with a strict "privacy-by-design" architecture.Â
The extension functions entirely within your local web browser. We do NOT collect, track, store on remote servers, sell, or transmit any of your personal information, browsing history, or bookmark contents.
2. Single Purpose
Easy Bookmark Manager has a single, well-defined purpose: to provide users with a visual, responsive interface to view, search, organize, clean duplicate bookmarks, and save open tabs into bookmark folders.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
Easy Bookmark Manager does NOT collect or transmit:
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII): No names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, or physical identities.
- Browsing History or Web Activity: We do not track websites you visit, search queries, or browsing habits.
- Keystrokes, Clicks, or Telemetry: No user analytics, session recordings, or keystroke loggers are included.
- Financial or Payment Information: No credit card numbers, payment details, or banking information.
- Location Data: No GPS, IP geolocation, or regional tracking.
- Authentication Credentials: No passwords, tokens, or security keys.
4. Permissions Used & Why They Are Needed
In accordance with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, Easy Bookmark Manager requests only the minimum permissions necessary to fulfill its core functionality. All permissions operate exclusively on your local machine:
A. bookmarks
- Purpose: Required to access your local Chrome bookmarks tree to display your bookmarks in visual grid and list layouts.
- How it is used: Allows you to search, sort, create new bookmarks, edit titles/URLs, delete bookmarks, detect and clean duplicate links, and reorder items into folders.
- Data handling: Bookmarks are managed strictly through Chrome's native bookmarks API and never leave your computer.
B. tabs
- Purpose: Required to support the "Bookmark Open Tabs" feature and to open your bookmarks.
- How it is used: When you click "Bookmark Open Tabs", the extension reads the URLs and titles of currently open tabs in your active window so you can select and save them to a bookmark folder. When you click a bookmark, it opens the link in a browser tab.
- Data handling: Tab URLs are never logged, monitored, or transmitted outside your browser.
C. storage
- Purpose: Required to save your personalized extension preferences locally on your machine.
- How it is used: Saves your visual settings (e.g., Grid vs. List view, Dark Mode vs. Light Mode, active theme color, font scaling level, active folder ID, and custom wallpaper opacity) via chrome.storage.local.
- Data handling: Stored strictly on your local disk within Chrome's sandboxed storage.
D. favicon
- Purpose: Required to render official website icons (favicons) next to your saved bookmarks.
- How it is used: Fetches favicons via Chrome's internal cache (chrome://favicon2) so you can visually recognize your favorite websites in the dashboard and side panel.
E. sidePanel
- Purpose: Required to render the Easy Bookmark Manager dashboard inside Chrome's native collapsible side panel.
- How it is used: Enables you to access and search your bookmarks alongside your active web page without having to open a separate tab or popup.
5. No Remote Code Execution
Easy Bookmark Manager strictly adheres to Chrome Manifest V3 security requirements. All JavaScript, HTML, and CSS files are packaged locally inside the extension. The extension does NOT load or execute remote scripts, third-party tracking pixels, or dynamic code via eval().
6. Third-Party Sharing and Data Sale
- We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize user data under any circumstances.
- We do not transfer user data to third parties, advertising networks, data brokers, or lending institutions.
- We do not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
7. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Easy Bookmark Manager does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
