We are meeting again! Next meeting, Monday January 25th at 3pm in Phalen Golf Course Club House parking lot.
If you need skis, let me know. I am able to borrow them from another Saint Paul school. Text me at 612-499-4472.
Snow has arrived!! If you get a chance to try nordic/cross-country skiing--go for it! Some places that have enough snow: Hyland Park Reserve (they rent equipment--online), Theodore Wirth Park (equipment rental now available), and Elm Creek Park (have online rentals). Hyland is the most beginner friendly. These three also require a day or season pass to ski. Phalen Golf Course, Battle Creek Rec Center, Highland 9 hole, and Como Golf Course have enough snow, but would need your own skis.
Update: Youth sports (MSHSL and club) are on!
Following SPPS rules, I will NOT be holding a M/W practice until after
January 14th. However, I WILL POST WORKOUTS for you on this site, check under schedule, then
supplement for workouts. Run and do strength with a family member, or, talk to your family about what they are comfortable with. Personally, my daughters have each other and me to workout with so they are lucky, but it doesn't motivate them like a friend. I am comfortable with them running/skiing/biking with a friend a couple times a week IF they wear masks and stay 6 feet apart (and everyone's healthy of course). Every family is different, so check with your family's level of comfort.
A reminder, if you plan on doing a winter sport at school (basketball, wrestling, swimming, etc....sign up ASAP.). Even with virtual season,
you need to be signed up to participate. If you have any questions, contact Don Bross at
don.bross@spps.org.
From news site, mprnews.org:
"Does this apply to events inside and outside?
For the most part, outdoor activities are restricted to the same degree as indoor activities. Get-togethers with people outside your immediate household, for example, are prohibited both inside and outdoors.
Restaurants aren’t allowed to offer dining inside or outside.
But under the new rules, people can still participate in activities like hiking, biking, picnicking, skiing and hunting with people from other households — but only if they maintain 6 feet of separation.
And groups within a single household may take part in activities that don’t allow for social distancing — like hockey or basketball. "
