We have 6 different sections of chorus in our curricular program at East Edisto Middle School with all 7th and 8th grade ensembles being yearlong as well as having a yearlong 6th grade section.
6th Grade Choir: This is our yearlong 6th grade class which will participate in competitions and our state performance assessment. Our 6th graders also take their own trips, are eligible to audition for SC state honor choir, attend SCMEA 6th grade clinic, and often get asked to make professional appearances with choirs and orchestras. We have two sections of this class with one being a semester option. We highly encourage yearlong, though! ;-)
7th Grade Concert Choir: A class for those that may be new to our program or new to singing, but want to learn how to improve. Often, students begin here and qualify to be a part of our community events and competitive ensembles.
7th Grade Advanced Chorus: Our varsity 7th grade ensemble is meant for our most ambitious 7th grade singers. Much like Fenrir was a legendary wolf known for superhuman strength, speed, agility, and stamina our singers in this group develop intense abilities to present music in an advanced way, read music at the highest of levels, and all of the communication, collaboration, and goal setting skills that are required to achieve it.
8th Grade Cambiata Baritone: This is a class for our cambiata, tenor, baritone, and bass voices. Although many students in the ensemble come with strong experiences in music literacy, vocal technique, and are highly skilled in the art of teamwork, this group is open for any boy in 8th grade that would like to learn how to sing, be a fantastic musician, and be a part of excellence!
8th Grade Treble Choir: This is a class for our soprano and alto voices. Although many students in the ensemble come with strong experiences in music literacy, vocal technique, and are highly skilled in the art of teamwork, this group is open to anyone that would like to learn how to sing, be a fantastic musician, and be a part of excellence!
Extracurricular Auditioned Choirs: In bocca al lupo (Varsity Tenor Bass Choir), Heulen (Varsity Treble Choir), The Wolfpack Chorale (Varsity Mixed Choir)
Additional Ensembles include the chance to be a part of our new A cappella program.
*Students that take chorus in 7th grade are eligible to register for a Chorus 1CP for 8th grade which allows them to receive a high school credit.
