The East Early College High School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) welcomes you and your family to our EECHS FAMILY. Our PTO is a small but highly dedicated group of parents and teachers committed to the overall success of the school and our students.
We encourage parental involvement throughout the year for various events and functions to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. The current board is looking forward to recruiting new members.

President shall:
Preside at all meetings of the organization and the executive board.
Be a member ex-officio of all committees.
Perform such duties as may be prescribed by the PTO bylaws or assigned by the organization of the executive board.
Coordinate the work on the officers and committees, in order that the objectives may be promoted.
Be accompanied by at least one other officer in conducting or attending meetings with the school board administrative staff or board of education, or with any group outside of the East Early College High School
Must be organized and have an agenda at each meeting.
Vice President shall:
Act as an aide to the President and shall in their designated order perform duties of the President in the inability of that officer to serve & may be assigned other duties by the President.
Be the correspondent for the PTO at school meetings and attend all the Shared Decision Making Committee (SDMC) meetings.
Provide a report of SDMC meeting at PTO meetings.
Present updates at every meeting
Ensure the PTO is in compliance with the school and/or district policies and security measures.
The Secretary shall:
Keep an accurate record at all meetings of the organization and the executive board.
Keep on file a copy of the current by-laws. This information is to be kept in the permanent record book that is to be in custody of the current secretary.
Maintain a database of inventory items (including field day t-shirts, PE uniforms, hoodies, etc.)
The Treasurer shall:
Receive all monies due of the organization & to disburse same when ordered by the executive board.
Keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures.
Present a financial statement at every meeting of the organization, showing receipts, expenditures & balances on hand in the bank and at times when requested by the executive board.
Make a yearly report at the annual meeting.
The signatures of the treasurer and Co-treasurer must be on any & all checks written, thus requiring two (2) signatures to validate checks.
Provide account and password for online banking to President and Vice President
Co-Treasurer shall:
Preform all duties assigned to Treasurer as needed
Practice clean and frequent communication with Treasurer and other officers
The Recruitment Committee Chairperson shall:
Maintain a database of all members contact information, fees paid, volunteer hours, and a file of volunteer sign-up sheets.
Responsible for recruiting new members
Perform such duties as may be prescribed by these bylaws or assigned by the organization or the executive board.
Coordinate the Fish Camp recruitment & other recruitment events; Create and maintain the membership forms.
Seek Business and Alumni Sponsorships and relevant contact information
Must check VIPs System to ensure volunteers are in compliance with the security measures in place by HISD.
The Volunteers Committee Chairperson shall:
Maintain a database and calendar of all PTO activities (including fundraisers).
Responsible for seeking approval by Principal of calendar year activities.
Perform such duties as may be prescribed by these bylaws or assigned by the organization or the executive board.
Set up Sign up Genius or use other volunteers tool for the various fundraising events.
Coordinate with the Treasurer the reporting of funds raised for all events.
Coordinate the logistics for PTO fundraising activities.
The Communications Committee Chairperson shall:
Maintain communication with Principal & school administration to obtain information for publishing in the PTO Newsletter.
Responsible for updating and issuing the Newsletter on a biweekly or if possible weekly basis to PTO members.
Perform such duties as may be prescribed by these bylaws or assigned by the organization or the executive board.
Will assist the President in maintaining an updated PTO website.
Responsible for maintaining the Reminder 101 or other communications and sending communications as necessary.
Present updates at every meeting.
