Success Stories

SUCCESS STORY #1: Meet ICE, a handsome white German Shepard that just found his forever family after 8 months with us. Here is his adoption story...

Here is our boy, Ice, when he was first rescued by our southern rescue partners. It was December 2021 and he was emaciated at just 30 pounds, literally just skin and bones. He found himself living in a shelter after his owner finally surrendered him only after facing animal neglect charges. He was scared, unhealthy, and had trouble walking with his "flat feet". The vet diagnosed him with RICKETS. It is a bone condition triggered by poor nutrition, especially a deficit or alteration in the levels of vitamin D, calcium or phosphorus. This skeletal disorder is characterized by a loss of strength or a change in the aspect and consistency of the bones. If left untreated, the result is often deformities of the bone.

Luckily, we rescued him just in time and his prognosis was good since he was still young and eager to eat well. With months of proper nutrition, exercise, physical therapy, training, LOTS OF LOVE, and thousands of dollars in medical bills, ICE is happy, healthy, and ready for adoption. Here he is at his first adoption event in May 2022. Look at that smile, shiny coat, and healthy feet!

Over the last few months, Ice had numerous meet and greets with potential adopters, multiple applications submitted to adopt him, one failed adoption with a return after one day, and NO FOREVER HOME. We could not understand why nothing was working out for our sweet boy?!? So we kept working with him and loving on him and fostering him until....he finally met his perfect match in August of 2022! Here he is today in his loving home with his perfect family. Happy Gotcha Day, Ice! You will always have a special place in our hearts!

SUCCESS STORY #2: Meet Bugsy

Bugsy is the sweetest boy you will ever meet. His rescue story is a sad one. He only had hours left before being euthanized at the shelter to make room for even more stray and dumped dogs. Cathy Bissell from The Bissell Foundation and our southern rescue partners saved him and we sponsored him. He is now a handsome Jersey Boy with a bright future and the most loving family. #adoptdontshop #savinglives @thebissellfoundation
