Easley's comprehensive school counseling program promotes student's social/emotional development and career/academic success through the following services:
Individual Counseling
Small Group Counseling
Classroom Guidance Lessons
Short term individual counseling is available to support students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success. School counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools. However, school counselors are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and assist students and families seeking resources.
School counselors provide counseling sessions in small-group settings that:
Help students overcome issues impeding achievement or success
Help students identify problems, causes, alternatives and possible consequences so they can make decisions and take appropriate action
Are planned, goal-focused, evidence-based and short-term in nature
School counselors deliver instruction based on the ASCA Student Standards that enhances awareness of mental health, promotes positive mental health and well-being, and seeks to remove the stigma associated with mental health issues.
