What  we do

ECI engages in international policy and advocacy for the integration of national-level Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) programs into global environmental framework projects and programs. Core issues addressed include climate change, water, sanitation and hygiene, Children’s Environmental Health, ESD, REDD+ and reforestation projects through the Power of One Child + One Tree = A Sustainable Future for All,  energy policy.

Specifically, ECI focuses on:

Influencing global environmental governance and engaging in policy platforms to advocate for children’s rights and participation;

Acknowledgement of the rights, needs and capacities of children and young people;

Encouraging parties to engage with children as active stakeholders in sub-national, national and global action; and

Incorporation of effective measures and mechanisms that lead to the realization of these rights.

ECI’s role in International Policy and Advocacy

ECI is a civil society observer to the UNFCCC, serving as a member of the Youth NGO (YOUNGO) constituent group.

ECI is an Special Advisor to United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) which enables our team to advocate on behalf of and with children at high level UN meetings and to submit policy recommendations

ECI regularly sponsors and facilitates side events on behalf of adolescent girls at the UN Commission on the Status of Women

ECI regularly sponsors and facilitates side events on behalf of children at World Water Council events and at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development

ECI is a consultant, convener and facilitator of International and National workshops, events and consultations
