Earth Child Institute (ECI) is an international non-governmental, not-for-profit organization, founded in 2002, with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council as well as a Civil Society Observer organization to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. ECI is also associated with the North American Association of Environmental Educators (NAAEE).
The mission of ECI is to engage with and empower children and young people through education today toward a sustainable future for all. We work with many stakeholders, including Government, Private Sector, Schools and most importantly children and young people themselves, to build a more resilient, and sustainable world through the facilitation of local ideas and solutions.
ECI believes that children and young people who are empowered with the knowledge of the interconnectedness of all living things as well as their own ability to think and act in harmony with one another and with nature, will grow up leading lives that benefit themselves and the environment.
Children and young people are often regarded as the leaders of tomorrow, but they are the leaders of today. If given a voice and the opportunity to take action the impacts can be profound.
