I am currently the Art Department Chair at North County High School in Anne Arundel County and teach adult and teen camps at Maryland Hall in Annapolis. I have 20+ years experience working with clay. I consider myself a functional, wood fire potter. In the past, I have taught and made pottery at Baltimore Clayworks, the Potter’s Guild of Baltimore and, most recently, Maryland Hall. I co-managed Monocacy River Pottery for 7 years. MRP is a small pottery studio in Thurmont with 3 wood kilns.

I am traditionally a wood fired potter, though I have dabbled in cone 6 electric recently. My artworks are wheel thrown and slipped in the leather hard stage. All of my imagery is hand painted and/or carved. Inspiration comes from nature and music. In the bisque stage, I inlay the drawings with underglaze to create a contrasting effect. Generally, I use very little glaze, except for the interior of my pieces, leaving it up to the kiln and the wood fire to paint my works.
