Biography 

Early Life

Koriand’r was born into Tamaran’s royal family as the second of three children:

• Komand’r, the eldest, a skilled strategist and later a dictator.

• Ryand’r, the youngest, who would later be exiled.

Tamaran is a desert world with no night cycle, constantly bathed in sunlight. Tamaraneans naturally absorb solar energy to gain their powers — flight, enhanced strength, and energy projection. However, Komand’r was born with a rare condition that prevented her from absorbing light; instead, she absorbed darkness. This was considered a weakness on Tamaran, though she compensated with cold, ruthless intelligence and military genius.

Betrayed

 As the Firstborn, Komand’r studied warfare obsessively, seeking to make Tamaran the galaxy’s greatest military force. When their parents failed to provide the decisive leadership the planet demanded, Komand’r secretly planned and executed a violent attack on the capital that resulted in the death of their parents. Before she could seize the throne, the Tamaranean Council nominated her ineligible to rule due to her inability to absorb solar energy, instead naming Koriand’r heir. As Koriand’r was too young to take the throne, the Council assumed temporary leadership.

Only a week after their parents death, Komand’r kidnapped Koriand’r and secretly sold her to the Gordanians, who in turn delivered her to the Psions. The Psions were infamous for their cruel scientific experiments, and they subjected Koriand’r to enhancement procedures designed to graft Tamaranean physiology into solar-based weaponry. This gave her amplified energy projection abilities beyond typical Tamaraneans.

Escape

  As part of their testing, the Psions selected Earth as a target due to its fast day-night cycle, unprotected status, and medium-powered sun. During transport to the planet, circumstances led to her crashing on Earth’s surface. She was found and rescued by the Teen Titans. Though unfamiliar with her surroundings, she joined the team, adopting the codename Starfire and beginning her new life as a hero on Earth.

 Komand'r eventually discovered that her sister survived, and now firmly in power on Tamaran, she offered a reward for his sister, promising her hand in marriage to any bounty hunter who could capture her. This now makes Starfire a constant target for galactic mercenaries.

There's no place like home

As Koriand'r enters a period of uncertainty within the Titans, she finds herself struggling with a feeling she never expected: loneliness. For years, she was the outsider among her friends, an alien princess trying to understand a world that was not her own. Now, after spending so much time on Earth, that distinction has begun to fade. Kory understands humanity better than ever before, yet as each Titan becomes increasingly consumed by their own personal journey, Titans Tower has started to feel emptier than ever.

Seeking purpose and adventure, she responds to a letter sent through the Titans' newly established P.O. box. The message comes from Leonid Kovar, a young hero from Infinity Inc. known as Red Star. Leonid claims to possess information connected to Kory's origins and invites her to travel to Russia to hear his story. There, she learns that his powers originated from the crash of an alien spacecraft carrying nothing but energy and a mysterious message. Before gaining his abilities, the only clear word Leonid could decipher from the transmission was "Starfire," a name he initially adopted before being encouraged to abandon it.

What initially appears to be coincidence quickly becomes something much greater. Leonid's abilities closely resemble Kory's own powers, and the damaged spacecraft seems connected to the same unknown forces that brought her to Earth. For the first time in years, Starfire is presented with a genuine lead regarding the location of Tamaran and the possibility of finding her way home. Together, they develop a plan: Leonid believes he can repair the alien vessel using both his technical expertise and his unique connection to its energy systems, but doing so will require access to the advanced technology housed within Titans Tower.

Faced with a choice between loyalty and hope, Kory agrees to help him, even knowing that the rest of the Titans would never approve of sharing sensitive information with an outsider. The decision forces her into unfamiliar territory. Throughout her life, her friends have been her family, and trust has always been the foundation of those relationships. Yet if this opportunity truly offers a path back to Tamaran, she may be willing to keep secrets she never imagined hiding from the people she loves most.

For now, Starfire stands between two worlds. One is the life she built on Earth alongside the Titans, the friends who became her family. The other is the distant possibility of rediscovering her lost home and uncovering the truth behind her origins. Whether that path leads her back to Tamaran or further away from the people she loves remains uncertain, but for the first time in many years, Kory finds herself wondering where she truly belongs.
