biography

Early Life

Zan was born on Korugar alongside his twin sister, Jayna. Although Korugar had once been known throughout the Andromeda Galaxy as the "Green Planet" because of its immense biodiversity, the twins only knew the industrialized world it had become. The forests and wildlife had disappeared, replaced by endless cities built upon the exploitation of the planet's extraordinary mineral wealth.

According to the history preserved by their father, Korugar's downfall began generations earlier when Sinestro, once the Green Lantern representative of the sector, rose to power as the planet's Supreme Commander. Though elected by popular acclaim, Sinestro betrayed both his people and the ideals he once represented, selling Korugar's resources for immense profit and transforming the world into the heart of an expanding empire. Eventually, the Guardians of the Universe stripped him of his Green Lantern ring and exiled him to a prison at the edge of the cosmos, though his ideals continued to inspire parts of the interstellar corps.

Zan and Jayna were too young during the Great Crisis to remember those events themselves, growing up instead in the authoritarian society that followed. Their parents, both accomplished biologists, refused to let Korugar's original identity disappear. Together, they created a ring-like device capable of storing the complete biological catalog of the planet's lost ecosystem, preserving the memory of every extinct species and natural element that had once flourished there.

Unlike his sister, whose powers allow her to become extinct creatures preserved within the catalog, Zan inherited the ability to transform his own body into Morphyllium, the unique natural substance that once blanketed Korugar's surface before becoming nearly extinct. His body can freely assume Morphyllium's many physical states, becoming liquid, gaseous, acidic, solid, gelatinous, or even adhesive depending on the situation.

Inspired by the stories of the world Korugar once was rather than the empire it had become, Zan dedicated himself to resisting the government that continued exploiting both the planet's natural resources and its own citizens while maintaining profitable agreements with Apokolips.

Today, Zan continues to fight beside Jayna as one of the Wonder Twins, using his Morphyllium physiology against the regime that still controls Korugar. While his sister preserves the memory of the planet's extinct wildlife through her transformations, Zan embodies one of its last remaining natural elements, serving as a living reminder of the world their parents fought to protect.

Their resistance has recently found valuable allies in the R.E.B.E.L.S., an organization of intergalactic vigilantes dedicated not only to opposing Apokolips, but to dismantling every empire built upon conquest and oppression throughout the galaxy. Fighting alongside them, Zan continues the struggle to reclaim Korugar's future while honoring the planet's forgotten past.
