Early Life

In the far reaches of the universe, two civilizations emerged as physical manifestations of opposing ideals: New Genesis and Apokolips. Their inhabitants were more than ordinary beings—they embodied concepts born alongside intelligence, history, and faith itself. For ages, the two realms waged an endless war, each representing opposing extremes that could never coexist.

Eventually, however, the conflict came to an end.

A final agreement was reached between the two worlds, ensuring that neither side would ever interfere in the affairs of the other again. They would never again share the same battlefield, the same conflict, or even the same argument. Peace had finally been achieved—but at a hidden cost.

One of the children affected by that agreement became known only as #041971.

Raised inside Granny Goodness' Orphanage Camps on Apokolips, Scott grew up as a student slave under constant abuse and indoctrination. Throughout his childhood he developed exceptional skills in escapology, stealth, and marksmanship, while nurturing a powerful desire for freedom that survived every punishment inflicted upon him. Those talents eventually made possible what almost no one had ever achieved.

Scott escaped Apokolips.

Seeking refuge on Earth, he was welcomed by Thaddeus Brown, an elderly performer who had once been the world's greatest escape artist under the stage name Mr. Miracle. Having retired from performing with the Haley Circus, Brown recognized in Scott the same determination and talent that had once defined his own career.

Rather than simply offering him shelter, Thaddeus trained Scott as his apprentice and eventually passed down the mantle of Mr. Miracle. Over the following months, Scott inherited the stage identity, performing breathtaking escape acts before audiences across Earth while finally experiencing a life built upon freedom rather than survival. For the first time, he believed he had escaped his past forever.

Scott's peaceful life on Earth proved to be temporary.

The influence of Apokolips eventually reached him once more, forcing him to consider leaving Earth before the horrors he had escaped could spread to the people who had welcomed him. Before he could disappear, however, he was found by an unexpected visitor.

Emerging from the shadows was Big Barda, the feared commander of the Female Furies.

Rather than attempting to capture him, Barda offered Scott the truth that would change both of their lives forever. She had uncovered the secret hidden behind the ancient treaty that had ended the war between New Genesis and Apokolips.

The peace between the two realms had been purchased through an exchange of children.

Scott learned that he had never truly been an orphan. He was, in reality, the son of Highfather, traded to Apokolips as part of the agreement, where he was condemned to endure Darkseid's cruelty as a personal sacrifice to preserve peace between the two worlds.

The revelation completely redefined his identity.

Everything Scott had believed about himself had been built upon lies. Yet instead of allowing the truth to destroy him, he embraced it. His lifelong obsession with escape and liberty was not merely the result of his upbringing—it reflected the very concept he embodied.

Scott accepted his role as the God of Freedom.

Having discovered that every certainty in their lives had been founded upon deception, both Scott and Big Barda rejected the destinies imposed upon them by New Genesis and Apokolips alike. Together, as Mr. Miracle and Mrs. Miracle, they chose to leave behind the lies that had shaped their pasts, believing that after a lifetime spent in captivity and manipulation, they could finally build a future defined by truth, freedom, and one another.
