MR. FANTASTIC (Earth-7)

Reed Richards, known as Mr. Fantastic, is the brilliant but flawed mind behind the Fantastic Four. A visionary obsessed with science and the mysteries of the universe, Reed’s relentless pursuit of knowledge gave birth to the Marvel-1 mission and inadvertently created Marvel’s first family of explorers and heroes. Gifted with elastic abilities that mirror his stretching intellect, Reed embodies both genius and hubris — a man whose discoveries change reality, but whose choices often endanger those he loves most.

Biography

Early Life

Reed Richards’ passion for discovery began in his youth. As early as sixth grade, he became fascinated by the emerging concept of Dark Energy, a theory of cosmic force that would haunt his studies for decades. Obsessed with understanding its properties, Reed immersed himself in science, mathematics, and engineering, while his social ties remained minimal.

At university, Reed met Susan Storm, whose pragmatism and execution turned his visionary ideas into reality. Along with Professor Vernon Van Dyne, Reed and Sue developed the Negative Zone Theory, proposing that dark energy was responsible for the universe’s constant expansion. What began as academic research spiraled into a groundbreaking project of global importance.

Marvel-1 Mission

With financial backing from Victor Von Doom and Latveria, Reed spearheaded the Marvel-1 mission, designed to prove the existence of the Negative Zone. The crew included Sue Storm, pilot Ben Grimm, and Sue’s younger brother Johnny. When a cosmic storm struck the ship, their bodies were transformed by radiation: Reed gained the ability to stretch and reshape his form with limitless elasticity, as his body deforms through the process of spaghettification via mini-wormholes that wrap around his limbs; the stronger he gets, the greater the distortion. Sue became the Invisible Woman, Ben was transformed into the rock-skinned Thing, and Johnny ignited as the Human Torch.

Though the mission was labeled a failure, the press rebranded the survivors as the Fantastic Four, immortalizing them as heroes. Reed, once an isolated theorist, was thrust into leadership, his name etched into history as the man who brought humanity face-to-face with the cosmos. Yet he always knew the truth: it was not only his brilliance, but also Sue’s execution, Ben’s courage, and Johnny’s spirit that made the team possible.

As Mr. Fantastic

As Mr. Fantastic, Reed pushed the boundaries of science to defend Earth from cosmic threats, often returning to the Negative Zone to confront horrors born from his own theories. His ambition, however, carried risks. Many of the Fantastic Four’s greatest enemies emerged from the shadows of Reed’s discoveries, from Doom’s manipulations to the insectoid terror of Annihilus, freed by the Marvel-1’s passage.

Back in his own world, Reed’s life expanded into family. His marriage to Sue Storm produced children whose powers surpassed even his imagination. Franklin Richards possessed the gift of creation, able to form entire universes from thought. Valeria Richards, brilliant and enigmatic, became Doom’s goddaughter and heir to Latveria’s throne. Reed, the man who once dreamed of proving a single theory, now found himself the father of children who could alter existence itself.
