Origin

Humberto was the only son of two renowned archaeologists, who dedicated their lives to uncovering the history of humanity. His parents often involved him in their expeditions, hoping to share their love of discovery and the mysteries of the past.

The Expedition

One fateful mission took the Lopez family to Antarctica, where they joined a Secret Avengers investigation led by S.H.I.E.L.D. in search of fossils. Instead of ordinary remains, the team uncovered the entrance to the legendary Savage Land — a hidden prehistoric world where dinosaurs still thrived, and isolated human communities had developed a paradise of mutant evolution. 

For Humberto, this journey was transformative. It drew him closer to his parents and gave him a newfound understanding of their passion for archaeology. But the expedition would also end in tragedy.

The Betrayal

During the mission, rogue scientist Vincent Stegron ambushed the team. With his own faction of S.H.I.E.L.D. defectors, he kidnapped Humberto’s parents, forcing them into grotesque experiments involving dinosaur grafts and Paleolithic bones. Stegron’s cruel ambition was to create an army of monstrous hybrids. Humberto’s parents were murdered in the process, leaving him desperate and grief-stricken.

As Reptil

In the chaos, Humberto discovered an ancient fossilized amulet connected to the Savage Land’s primal forces. In a moment of desperation, he broke into his parents’ laboratory and pressed the amulet into his own chest. 

The result was a brutal, mystical surgery — the fossil grafted itself into his ribcage, permanently binding its power to him. The amulet allowed Humberto to manifest traits of dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts: wings like a pterodactyl, claws like a raptor, armored skin, and immense primal strength. But it also tied him to the very forces that had taken his parents away.

Though young and inexperienced, Humberto chose to wield this gift for justice rather than vengeance. Nicknamed Reptil, he trained alongside other young heroes. While he still grieved, he found guidance under the watch of Tigra, who encouraged him to channel his instincts toward protecting others.

 Reptil learned to balance his humanity and his beastly power, fighting not as one of Stegron’s abominations but as a symbol of hope. With his new teammates, he took his place among the Avengers, fighting on the side of heroes — not monsters.
