Biography 

Early Life

Sofia Gigante’s life was marked by horror from an early age. At nine years old, she witnessed her mother’s murder, beaten and killed by her father, Carmine Falcone, who then tied her mother’s body to a rope and hung it from the ceiling. Sofia, who had been hiding nearby, saw everything unfold.

The Hangman is born

This traumatic memory became the root of her lifelong nightmares, which soon morphed into violent compulsions. Each time she dreamed of her mother’s murder, Sofia awoke with the overwhelming urge to punish someone. This dark drive led to a string of killings: 10 nightmares, 10 women suffocated, their necks broken and their bodies left hanging in their own homes.

When Carmine discovered his daughter’s murderous nature, he reported her to the GCPD, but not without attaching to her record some old crimes of his own, covering up and twisting the truth to protect his family’s legacy. Sofia was eventually confined to Arkham Asylum, where she survived, growing stronger and more dangerous.

Released from Arkham

Years later, Sofia returned, no longer restrained by her father or her past. With much of the Falcone family weakened or gone—especially after the fallout of the Holiday Killer case—Sofia claimed control of the Falcone criminal empire under her mother’s surname, Gigante.

Now known as The Hangman, Sofia fully embraced her violent legacy. She is infamous not only for her brutal strength, capable of snapping necks with a single hand, but also for her sadistic rituals, echoing the murder that had defined her childhood. Though still plagued by nightmares, Sofia has accepted them as part of her nature, no longer waiting for the visions to guide her killings. Instead, she chooses her victims deliberately, making her more dangerous than ever before.
