Pamela Isley, known as Poison Ivy, is a tragic figure transformed into a living embodiment of Mother Nature. A brilliant botanist with a troubled past, she evolved from a victim of abuse and manipulation into a powerful eco-terrorist. Through her connection to hallucinogenic and toxic plants, she developed abilities that allow her to control, weaponize, and even merge with nature itself. To Ivy, humanity’s cruelty and destruction only confirm her belief that nature must reclaim the world—and she has chosen herself as its avenger.

Biography

Early Life

Pamela’s childhood was marked by domestic abuse. Whenever her father assaulted her mother, he would later attempt to apologize with bouquets of roses—an early, twisted lesson for Pamela in how nature can be used to manipulate emotions. After her mother’s death, Pamela often returned to the old house to tend the garden that had belonged to her mother, determined to keep it alive and flourishing.

On her final visit to her father, who was imprisoned, Pamela gave him a bouquet filled with bees, triggering his extreme allergy. In that moment, she embraced the philosophy that nature kills as easily as it renews.

As Dr. Isley

At university, Pamela studied botany and engineered hallucinogenic plants, attracting the attention of her professor, Dr. Jason Woodrue. He recruited her as his laboratory assistant and protégé, but their relationship soon became exploitative and intimate. Eventually, he impregnated her, though Pamela terminated the pregnancy with a natural tea. She came to view this act as proof that nature is a mother, but also a conqueror.

Revenge

When Woodrue dismissed her from his lab, Pamela retaliated by destroying his research and injecting herself with his final project—a formula derived from his botanical studies. The overdose transformed her physiology, leaving her collapsed but reborn as something beyond human. From that moment, she realized that nature had always been within her, guiding her toward this transformation.

Pamela Isley was gone; Poison Ivy was born.
