reading BINGOals
I made this BINGO game to encourage my composition students to read new things outside of class. There are 30 challenges for engaging with books, narrative, and words split across 5 categories.
Use the spreadsheet to generate a custom card & track your reading. Try to get 5 squares in a row!
I used these rules for a class extra credit assignment to encourage collaboration & extracurricular reading. It combines a bit of luck with teamwork & planning.
The entire class plays together on the 30-challenge card. We get a class-wide incentive if we complete all of the challenges (black out the board)
Each player has a unique individual card. Every BINGO (row, column, or diagonal) can be submitted for a small amount of extra credit points
After completing a challenge, the player calls the square & writes a short review of the book*
When the square is called, each player can mark it on their individual card & benefit from each other's contributions
