What Eagle Eye Automotive Is About
Eagle Eye Automotive is a locally owned and operated mobile mechanic service based in Badagarang, in the Shoalhaven Region.
For me, working on cars isn't something that simply started when I became a qualified mechanic. It's something I've been doing for most of my life.
Where It All Started
My interest in cars started when I was around 14 years old, working alongside my father, who taught me the basics of working on and maintaining vehicles.
Together, we built my first car from the ground up, and that's where my passion for understanding how vehicles work really began.
Over the years, I owned, worked on and modified numerous vehicles of my own. I was always looking for the next project or something I could improve, whether that meant engine rebuilds, turbo conversions, performance upgrades, gauges, stereo systems, auto-electrical accessories or general mechanical modifications.
Long before it became my profession, working on cars was already something I genuinely enjoyed doing.
Working My Way Into the Automotive Industry
My professional automotive career started at the bottom as a car washer at a dealership.
From there, I worked my way into an accessory fitting position, gaining hands-on experience installing vehicle accessories and electrical equipment.
I later moved into a specialised auto-electrical fitting role, working on vehicles for the NSW Fire Brigade and NSW Rural Fire Service.
This involved fitting and wiring specialised equipment, including emergency lighting, sirens and other vehicle equipment, as well as building complete wiring harnesses from electrical schematics.
That experience gave me a strong foundation in automotive electrical systems, wiring and accessory installation that has remained valuable throughout my career.
Becoming a Qualified Mechanic
I later returned to dealership work as an accessory fitter, but I wanted to take my automotive knowledge further.
After approximately six months, I asked for the opportunity to undertake my mechanical apprenticeship as an adult apprentice.
Over the next four years, I learned as much as I could about all aspects of vehicle servicing and repair, developing a particular interest in diagnostics, engine repairs and mechanical fault finding.
I didn't want to simply learn how to replace parts. I wanted to understand why something had failed, how the different systems worked together and how to prove what was actually causing a problem.
That approach to diagnostics and repairs has stayed with me throughout my career.
After becoming a qualified mechanic, I was fast-tracked into the position of Workshop Foreman within approximately six months.
In that role, I was responsible for overseeing four qualified technicians and five apprentices, while remaining hands-on in the workshop myself.
Training apprentices also became a major part of my role. I personally helped train and develop apprentices through their trade, passing on the same importance of proper diagnosis, workmanship and understanding how a vehicle actually works rather than simply replacing parts.
I spent approximately eight years at that dealership, progressing from accessory fitting and an adult apprenticeship through to becoming a qualified mechanic and Workshop Foreman.
More Than Five Years on the Road
After leaving dealership life, I moved into roadside assistance.
Working across several roadside assistance providers, I quickly accumulated more than five years of experience on the road, helping motorists when their vehicles broke down.
Roadside assistance taught me a different side of diagnostics and problem solving.
When you're attending a broken-down vehicle on the side of the road, you don't have an entire workshop around you. You need to listen to what happened, assess the symptoms, use the equipment and information available and work out what has gone wrong.
Sometimes the vehicle can be repaired on the spot. Other times, the important part is correctly identifying the problem and helping the customer understand what needs to happen next.
Those years on the road significantly strengthened my diagnostic and fault-finding experience and taught me how to work independently in constantly changing situations.
Mobile Mechanical & Specialist Experience
My career also included working with Lube Mobile as a mobile mechanic, carrying out servicing, diagnostics and mechanical repairs directly at customers' homes and workplaces.
I also spent approximately 11 months working with Wrong Fuel Rescue, attending vehicles that had accidentally been filled with the incorrect fuel and safely correcting petrol and diesel misfuelling incidents.
These roles added another layer of experience outside the traditional workshop environment and reinforced something that has become central to Eagle Eye Automotive — being able to take professional automotive knowledge, equipment and workmanship directly to the customer.
The Eagle Eye Automotive Story
I started Eagle Eye Automotive in 2018.
In the beginning, the business operated sporadically alongside my other automotive roles. This allowed me to continue gaining experience across different areas of the industry while gradually building Eagle Eye Automotive and establishing my own customer base.
Over time, what started as something I operated alongside my regular employment developed into something much bigger.
Today, Eagle Eye Automotive is my full-time focus and passion.
The business brings together everything I've learned throughout my life and career — from working on cars with my father as a teenager, building and modifying my own vehicles, auto-electrical and accessory fitting, dealership servicing and repairs, advanced diagnostics, becoming a Workshop Foreman, training apprentices, roadside assistance and years of working independently on vehicles in the field.
My Approach
One thing that has remained consistent throughout my career is that I want to understand why something has gone wrong.
A fault code is a starting point, not automatically a diagnosis. Replacing parts until a problem disappears isn't the way I like to work.
My approach is to listen to the customer, understand the symptoms, inspect and test the vehicle and use the information available to work towards identifying the actual cause of the problem.
The same attitude applies to servicing and repairs. If I find something that needs attention, I'll explain what I've found and why I recommend repairing it. If something doesn't need replacing yet, I'll tell you that too.
Deal Directly With the Mechanic Working on Your Vehicle
Eagle Eye Automotive is independently operated, so when you contact the business, you're dealing directly with me — the mechanic who will actually be inspecting, diagnosing, servicing or repairing your vehicle.
There's no service adviser standing between you and the person doing the work.
You can explain the problem directly to me, ask questions about what I've found and receive straightforward advice about your vehicle.
For me, good automotive service comes down to honesty, communication, quality workmanship and doing the job properly.
My aim isn't simply to complete one job and move on. I want customers to know who they're dealing with and feel confident calling Eagle Eye Automotive again when they need help with their vehicle.
