One Act Information

Overview

One Act Play is a theater competition between High Schools that must follow very specific rules related to the performance. On competition night all the schools perform their plays one at a time and they are judged by a panel of experts who then rank the plays and the play with the best rank is declared the winner.

Last year Eagan High School won our competition and qualified for the State Festival. Eagan has appeared in more State Festivals than almost any other school in Minnesota.

8 performers play various roles throughout

A moving, meaninful, and at times surprisingly joyful theatrical experience commemorating the Anniversary of the Great Hinckley Fire: featuring a tapestry of toe-tapping, heart-string-plucking music of the era, harrowing first-hand accounts of the survivors, and moving tributes to those who perished. It's a celebration of life-- its joys and sorrows -- and a heartening reminder that those we hold dear are never lost.

Roles

2m and 6w -- Play various roles telling the stories and acting out the various moments of the great fire. Although, the play isn't a musical it does include extensive singing.

Commitment

We will rehearse during the end of December (a few days during break) and all of January. Rehearsal will mostly be in the evening from 4:30-7:00 pm with a few after school. We will also rehearse during the day on weekdays when we don't have school. Our first competition is on Jan 20 or Jan 21. See the calendar above for rehearsals. This year we will also have some dedicated community performances with this years winter play (also a One Act)
