On any given day, the walls of the Palmer Hall basement seem gloomy with the dread of dense readings and political science essays. However, just one floor below that, you can find countless people laughing and jokingly yelling at their friends over video games. This place is the Esports Lab.

This sacred space is home to the several varsity Esports teams at CC. After grinding away in two-hour practices several times a week, these teams have become a family on campus; not just with the players in their individual games, but within their whole Esports community.

Day and night, they are consistently interacting, joking, and sometimes yelling at each other (in the most loving way, of course). However, to the Esports athletes, games are not just a hobby frowned upon by parents, but instead something that can be turned into a bonafide career path. The varsity Esports teams at Colorado College not only dedicate as much of their time as other varsity sports but also take away many similar life lessons that other athletes express.

We find an example of a multifunctional football field in Snttringe close to Stockholm, Sweden. In Snttringe there was an urgent priority to establish an underground retention systemdue to the low-lying areas around the football field being at the risk of becoming flooded during major precipitation events. 

The football fields will be fully transformed by the end of 2021 with underground water retention vaults with a capacity of containing up to 1600 m3 stormwater. For this project we contributed with our stormwater management system Aquaton. The project was planned with Stockholm Vatten och Avfall and established with SVEAB anlgging. 

Underneath the dome, the sports complex comprises 965 square metres, at 4.5 metres below grade. The facility contains an indoor basketball, soccer, and volleyball court; as well as changing rooms, a gym and restrooms.

The oval shape of the space conforms to the curved roof and is made of concrete. Its underground position allows for the use of geothermal energy and additionally protects the space from the elements above.

The entrance to the sports complex is a concrete structure that lies adjacent to the domed roof at ground level. Inside the structure, a sloping pathway leads downwards to the network of facilities. An elevator can also be used to access the space.

The sports facility is located on the residential campus of the ALMA Observatory, which is home to the largest radio telescope in the world. The facility will serve the employees who live on the observatory's campus to improve living conditions.
