Being the students of universities, we all face problems in commuting within the campus.
To solve this, our first choice has always been taking an E-Rickshaw for our daily travel, but it usually digs deep in our pocket daily as we travel at least 4-6 times a day within the campus, which cost us nearly Rs 40 to Rs 60 on daily basis and many times we don’t get it in rush hours.
On the other hand, if we have our cycles, we have to pedal them on our own. With bicycles, there have been numerous cases of them being stolen from the parking of hostels as well as from parking areas within the campus.
Alternatively, if we prefer walking daily, it is good for our health but at the same time, it consumes a lot of our energy daily as on average we walk for about 6-8km within our campus.
Walking in the wintertime is still fine as it keeps our body warm but walking in summer during the morning as well as during day time, when the sun is at its peak, we come back to our hostel for lunch and then return to classes, it takes a lot from our body.
Not only in our college but when we move out of it and look at the larger picture, we see a scope of replacing the conventional mode of old-fashioned commuting i.e. a bicycle with a battery-operated device which could be as small as our laptop and which could fit in our laptop bags and carried with us everywhere.
We as a team of 5 aim to build a laptop size walking assistance named “E-Walker” which could be used to replace bicycles.
With this product, we aim to offer a portable alternative that we could carry without thinking about the parking issue or fear of it being stolen or without thinking about the boring part of pedaling a bicycle.
Our product would come in handy when used in the college campus or inroads which are smoothed throughout and have a good terrain.
With our product, we are mainly focusing on the student community and people within the age group of 14 to 45 years who usually commute by bicycle or by E-Rickshaws or by walking while on the college campus or in the market place or in their workplace.
We also aim to look forward to the customer segment who lives in urban cities (which have good road conditions), towards people (teenagers and adults) who are looking for a trendy alternative to walking or cycling.
Our E-Walker would be specifically designed for leveled terrain, dry conditions, and for the roads which have straightened inclination throughout.
The product would be as handy as a 14-inch laptop and it would fit in our laptop bags. It would require the least level of maintenance.
Our product would initially be heavy on the pocket as it would cost ranging maximum of Rs 30000*. But as the product is electrically driven so it would have zero driving cost and it could be easily charged in our hostels free of cost or in our home with a portable charger as we charge our Laptops.
With our product, we aim to save a lot of space that is consumed in parking our cycles on our campus.
