weathering and erosion

Lesson Plan is located at the bottom:

- "What is an example of weathering and erosion" and "What is the difference between them"

-Show youtube video, then go back and slowly stop and ask questions to gain understanding.

-Doodle notes

What is an example of weathering? Wind and water cause small pieces of rock to break off at the side of a mountain.

What is an example of erosion? Wind carries small pieces of rock away from the side of a mountain.

What is the difference between weathering and erosion? "When the smaller rock pieces (now pebbles, sand or soil) are moved by these natural forces, it is called erosion. So, if a rock is changed or broken but stays where it is, it is called weathering. If the pieces of weathered rock are moved away, it is called erosion."

Weathering and erosion Youtube video:

-Watch video through once

-Watch video a second time and stop and check for understanding and ask questions every so often.

This is called doodle notes, doodle notes keeps kids interacted by being able to color in the pictures and filling in the blanks.

-This is something I would like to try with my students when it comes to note taking so they can also make it their own and it keeps them intrested in the topic.
