State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Punjab is an apex institute in the field of Training, Consultancy, Evaluation and Research in the areas of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj.
SIRD is the nodal institute for the training and capacity building programmes under Ministry of Panchayati Raj & Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
SIRD with its established expertise in Capacity Building for Elected Representatives and official counterparts in Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in the State, has been working in this field since 1984.

SIRD has the mandate to build the capacity of the officers, functionaries and Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions through trainings, research and consultancy on Flagship Programmes and major schemes of Central and State Government.
Training Need Assessment, Development of Training Modules/Training Material, Training of Trainers and conduct of training programmes in cascade model are some of the key components of Design of Training.
