Short bio: Fulbright Scholar with 5 academic degrees and 20 years of field experience with youth, schools and families. President Elect of the BPS Developmental Psychology Section (2023). Researcher – International Speaker.
Kleanthis is a Family and Developmental Psychologist with twenty years of field experience with children, adolescents, youth, families, and schools within diverse professional roles. Alongside field experience, he obtained a PhD in Family/Developmental Psychology (cum laude; Distinction; International PhD) and a Master’s in Counselling (Distinction; Fulbright scholarship). Moreover, he obtained Bachelor's degrees in Psychology (summa cum laude; Excellent), Education (Excellent), and Law (Excellent). Kleanthis scholarly work focuses on systemic reasoning, examining the psychological processes occurring at the family level. His research aims at mapping specific family dynamics that produce pathology, and conversely health, in children, adolescents, and youth. Kleanthis' academic teaching includes the curriculum development and lecturing of modules relating directly and indirectly to human development such as General Psychology, Lifespan Development, Adolescent Psychology, Developmental Psychopathology, Educational Psychology, Counselling, and Social Psychology. As a two-time Fulbright Scholar, he has published articles in scientific blind peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at various academic fora. Kleanthis has been elected Chair Elect (2023 - 2024) of the Developmental Psychology Section and honored with Associate Fellowship by the British Psychological Society. Currently, he serves as the Director of the "European Institute for the Study of the Family". In his free time, Kleanthis enjoys Ashtanga yoga and Argentinean tango.
