Bridging The Evolution of Retail Landscape
Redefining Retail Buying Threshold Through E - Commerce Hub Establishment as the Fourth Place in Jalan Raja Chulan
Malaysia has witnessed a profound transformation in its retail landscape, with the rapid rise of E - Commerce business models reshaping the way consumers shop their daily necessities, including the architectural contextualism of the shopping mall and retail stores in our country, especially within the Central Business District (CBD) OF Kuala Lumpur, The Golden Triangle.
In addition, the country's growing economy, fast shopping trends coupled with the increasing internet penetration and digital literacy, has also been the important drives into this revolution of E - Commerce. This study explores the evolution of the retail landscape's transformative shift on retail buying experience through the integration of e-commerce hub as a fourth place within the site context of Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.
Through evaluating changes from the traditional brick-and-mortar stores to online shops, the study reveals the sustainable features of the new generation commercial building design in supporting continuous business expansion and the subsequent economic growth together with the incorporation of technological devices into the retail stores system in the e-commerce hub.
A mini master plan is proposed including strategic urban planning approaches, urban design proposals, in promoting cohesive interconnection among the current retail stores and the targeted users along the site context in Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.
