Got his Ph. D. at IMPA, under the supervision of Welington de Melo. Works on one-dimensional dynamics. Rather than study a specific dynamical system, he is mainly interested on the typical behaviour of such maps. To this end he study their universality and rigidity properties (renormalization theory), as well how the measure-theoretical properties of a map changes when one perturbs it (linear response theory).

Got his PhD at Boston University under the supervision of Dirk Kreimer. He is currently working on bi-Hamiltonian dynamical systems and on some algebraic structures stemmings from geometric integration theory
