Our Favorite Dye Recipe
Wet mordanted fibers.
Cut the Madder roots into short pieces and either use fresh or dry for later use.
Simmer plant for 1 hour.
Remove from heat.
Add mordanted fibers to dye bath. For brighter results, leave the roots in the bath. For more dull colors, remove the roots.
Leave the fibers in the dye bath for 1 to 2 days, checking the color occasionally.
When the desired color is reached, remove the fibers. Additional fiber can be placed in the pot up to two more times for a variety of shades.
Rinse fiber in cold water to remove excess color.
Let air dry either inside or in the shade.
